Alas, I’m back in Belgrade. I had the best time ever in Switzerland and I’d like to thank my hosts Fernanda and Georg for making my stay a real pleasure. I’ll be writing a full IGF review for GNUzilla very soon. As for my stay in CH…well, you’ll have to go for the photos. They say much more than I could ever write…and to be honest, I have no time to write a full review of the past week…it was just too damn good over there.
You may find all the photos here:http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/eccegeek/DCOSIGFJuly2007
P.S. I’ve switched to Picasa. Much faster and nicer than Flickr.
P.P.S. Just for the record. Fernanda is working for Google as sys admin and load balancing specialist. Another uber geek chick on my list.:))
P.P.P.S. Not too many pictures of myself…don’t ask why.:)

After almost 12h of sleeping I may say I’m feeling great. IGF has been a really precious experience and a chance to meet some very interesting people. Main subject of our rather small meeting was “Open standards”. The full review must wait till I get the full list of participants of IGF. Just for the record, there were representatives of Sun Microsystems, W3C, IPJustice, OSI, CTech, Chile, Pakistan, BSA..etc. We had a really nice day of talks on Open standards and making decisions on IGF’s big meeting in Rio De Janeiro in November…which I hope to attend.:-)
To be honest, the real talks were done in between regular ones – during coffee and lunch breaks. Those were the moments I’ve spent going around, talking to all the people and getting to know my “friends and foes”. Had really nice conversation with representative of Pakistan on Free Software. It was a really nice chance for me to advocate FSFE and Free Software as whole. He was quite interested in it and we spent quite some time discussing. I also got a chance to chit-chat with Susy Struble from Sun Microsystems which was really valuable thing as Georg Greve, president of FSFE , told me afterwards. I also had an opportunity to have a very nice conversation with Robin D. Gross founder and Executive Director of IP Justice an international civil liberties organization that promotes balanced intellectual property law and protects freedom of expression.
The day ended in a pub in center of Geneva. Georg and I weren’t able to make it to dinner sponsored by Sun Microsystems so some of the guys at meeting decided to spend some time with us in the pub. This meant having some quality time with very important people…and as Georg stated, that doesn’t happen very often on such events…I was lucky:-)
That’s it for now…more to come when I get back to Belgrade on Thursday. I’ve notice quite an increase of visitors to my site…almost 1500 in the last 3 days. Very nice. Some of you asked on IM if I made some photos. Sure I did..a lot of photos. Alas, my mind is very lost lately thus I forgot USB cable for my camera…you will have to wait till I get back home.
